Your First Class
- Warm Welcome: You'll be greeted by our staff and introduced to your instructor in a friendly, low-pressure environment.
- Comfortable Pace: No previous experience is needed. We start with basic movements that anyone can master at their own speed.

HOW WE TRAIN
Our Women’s Self-Defense classes are conducted in a safe, ego-free environment where every student is treated with respect. Training at Vanguard is not about sport points; it’s about providing you with real-world skills to identify, avoid, and if necessary, neutralize threats with calm confidence. We focus on situational awareness, de-escalation tactics, and practical Jiu-Jitsu techniques specifically adapted for realistic encounters. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, our instructors guide you step-by-step through every drill.

I have no martial arts experience. Can I join?
Absolutely. Most of our students start with zero experience. Our training is designed to build your skills and confidence from the ground up in a supportive environment.
Is the environment intimidating or competitive?
Not at all. We pride ourselves on a 'no-ego' policy. Our classes are respectful, empowering, and focused on mutual growth rather than sport-style competition.
What should I wear to my first session?
Comfortable workout clothing—such as leggings and a t-shirt—is perfect. We train on mats, so no special footwear is needed for your intro.
How long does it take to learn the basics?
You will leave your very first free intro session with practical tools you can use. Mastery takes time, but basic proficiency happens surprisingly fast.
